Archdiocesan Human Trafficking Committee

Who we are

We are a group of volunteers from across the Archdiocese from various disciplines who are committed to eradicating the horrific crime of Human Trafficking which destroys the dignity & rights of all involved.  

We seek to raise awareness & education about Human Trafficking in our church parishes & communities.

We dedicate ourselves to collaborate & coordinate with supporting partners to address root causes of trafficking as well as to serve victims & survivors of Human Trafficking.

We encourage action through prayer & advocacy. 


 

What we do

The Archdiocesan Human Trafficking Committee...

• Can schedule tailor-made presentations for large or small groups, for general audiences, adults, & youth (high school only)
• Coordinates a local outreach project to directly benefit victims & survivors locally
• Conducts outreach directly to those on the street
• Coordinates contacts with legislators to promote anti-trafficking legislation
• Schedules trainings for groups to learn about red flags that could indicate trafficking & safely report potential or actual trafficking situations to proper authorites
• Serves as a liaison to the Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force, Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops' Life & Justice Committee, Governor Edwards' Human Trafficking Summits, the Governor's Louisiana Child Trafficking Collaborative, the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, & the USCCB's Catholic Coalition of Organizations against Human Trafficking

Members must complete the Human Trafficking Basic Training (held quarterly around the Archdiocese).  Please check the "Happening Now" tab to find out when the next Basic Training will be held.

Members must also complete Safe Environment Training.   Go here for details.

1. LEARN MORE -->  Schedule a presentation or training for your church/group/CYO; Attend our biennial Human Trafficking Symposium: A Light in the Darkness

2. JOIN OUR PRAYER TEAM -->  Under Her Mantle 

3. TALK ABOUT IT -->  Share what you know with others

4. Participate in our annual DAY OF AWARENESS & PRAYER AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING 

5. Download TraffickCam & use this when you stay in a hotel/motel room.  Your room photos are uploaded to a database to help law enforcement locate traffic victims.

6. PARTICIPATE IN OUR PARTNER PROJECT -->
We are continuting to assist a local safe house, the Free Indeed Home, where girls ages 12-17 who have been sex trafficked can come for healing & restoration.
